"Rittai
Expo '08 (Stereoscopic Image Industry Exhibition 2008),
organized by the Consortium of 3-D Image Business Promotion
and including the participation by the 3D Consortium,
was held for three days from December 3 (Wed) to December
5 (Fri) at Pacifico Yokohama. We continued participation
this year by installing a 3D Consortium booth. Four
member companies jointly exhibited at the booth.
According to the announcement by organizers, 3,180 persons
visited there over three days.

* Exhibit (1): "A globe-shaped display - 'The
Magic Planet' - A spherical-shaped display which is
appropriate for displaying information in a globular
shape. This display can present images which have
small distortion on the surface of spheres.
* Exhibit (2): "Real-time 3D production tool
'REMO for 3dsMax2009'" - A real-time 3D production
tool for computer graphics (CG) creators. This tool
can show 3D models created by using CG tools from
the viewpoint selected by users as they would like
to see the models.

* Name of exhibit: "Actioforma (medical contents)"
- 3D materials for clinical anatomy (gynecology version)
and image collections (cells and tissues) for 3D SEMs
(scanning electron microscope).

* Exhibit: "3D multimedia authoring system 'MatrixEngine'
- "MatrixEngineSDK" is a 3D authoring tool
for business use with high capacity and usability.
This tool enables development of 3D multimedia applications
by verifying results real-time on screens of PCs in
their actual operating environments. With this tool,
creators can complete end products by repeating tests
and errors. Introduction of the version which is compatible
with Shader (ver.2.0) is being planned.
* Exhibit: A playback engine which can be used for
an embedded device and can also be used with PCs which
have low load and smooth operations - "MatrixEngine"
(for PCs) and "MatrixEngine embedded" (for
embedded devices) will be presented. They can be utilized
for various scenes including graphical user interfaces
for mobile phones and rich avatar communities.
