Technical Sub-committee

Activity Policy
Submission of proposals for projects organized by the government will be continuously made by activating activities of its WGs. Continue activities which lead to business including identification of obstacles for diffusion of 3D and proposals of demonstration experiments, etc.

Activity Plan

1. Launch of a proposal system for the projects organized by the government by enhancement of WGs.
2. Clarification of the trends of the market and technologies, and challenges related to each application via study sessions which are led by WGs.
3. Increasing the appeal of the activities of the 3D Consortium by organizing conferences.

Contents Sub-committee

Activity Policy
In the situation where digitalization according to the characteristics of each market has developed in the field of cinema, broadcasting and package products, we need to grasp the effects of the transition of contents to 3D and emphasize its advantages for activation of the contents market which utilizes the merits of 3D technologies. To this end, the working group set out to contribute to exploitation of 3D contents businesses by gathering information from companies and organizations which provide 3D technologies and provision of the information to contents-related companies and creators.

   As in last year, interviews with creators will be executed. Through interviews with leading digital creators and producers, this website will be updated for the better recognition of activities of the 3D Consortium and introduction of our member creators.

Safety Guidelines Sub-Committee

Activity Policy
Starting in fiscal 2009, it is expected that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will start full-fledged development of guidelines based on the International Workshop Agreement 3 (IWA3) concerning image safety to reduce undesirable biochemical effects. The Safety Guidelines Sub-committee will actively engage in related activities and development of guidelines; the Sub-committee will take results of such guidelines before others and reflect them in the "3DC Safety Guidelines".

Broadcasting & Live Action Shooting Working Group(WG)

One year has passed since 3D broadcasting by Nippon BS Broadcasting Corporation started and it became a significant pulling force for dissemination of 3D. In fiscal 2009, in order to promote the appeal of 3D widely to the general public, the WG will clarify problems and technical challenges in terms of producing 3D programs. The WG will also pursue realization of partnerships with various organizations in various industries. Considering movements toward commercialization of 3D digital cameras, utilization of 3D content formats will also be examined.

3D Stereoscopic Brain Training Working Group(WG)

Based on the results achieved by the "3DC Safety Guidelines" which were published by the Safety Guidelines Sub-committee, taking the platforms for various types of amusement (including large images for home use and for commercial use) as examples, how they shall be utilized will be examined via activities by the committee. Such discussions shall lead to proactive oposals for "development of stereoscopic image contents for vitalizing brain activities". For themes which will increase significance (especially in terms of actual business) such as safety of images and know-how for producing safe and amusing contents, "practical" solutions both for manufacturers and users shall be pursued mainly by accumulating experimental approaches.

Broadcasting and Communication Contents Research Working Group (WG)

Realize a plan for a 3D contents distribution experiment project by the WG which was established in fiscal 2008, promote the appeal of 3D contents to the general public and pursue visualization of ideas for utilization of 3D contents in business. Through operation of the plan, grasp know-how and constraints for 3D contents distribution under the current Internet environment.
